Enova

Enova is a Norwegian government enterprise working to accelerate Norway's transition to a low-emission society. They achieve this by cutting greenhouse gas emissions, fostering technology development and innovation, and creating new value. Enova's mission is to translate Norwegian climate policy into action, focusing on long-term sustainable solutions and managing funds to stimulate the development of new technologies and markets. They aim to address market failures, such as the lack of emissions pricing and underinvestment in innovation, by providing financial support to projects that drive technology and market development in the energy and climate sectors. The goal is to equip Norway for a low-emission future by 2050, in alignment with the Paris Agreement. Enova supports both private individuals and businesses. For consumers, they offer information and support programs for energy and climate initiatives. For businesses, they provide targeted support for innovative energy and climate solutions across various sectors, including industry, sea transport, and land transport. The funding provided is intended to be sufficient to initiate development, allowing new technologies and markets to become self-sustaining over time. Enova aims to overcome barriers hindering the adoption of new energy and climate solutions by compensating for costs and risks associated with innovation. Key performance indicators for Enova's activities from 2021 to 2024 include a targeted emissions reduction of 1,486 ktonnes of CO2 per year, an innovation result of 17,154 million NOK, and support for 25,590 projects. Enova's activities are financed by the Climate and Energy Fund and additional funding allocated by the Norwegian parliament to accelerate the transition.
