The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is evolving from a financier to a comprehensive partner, aiming to create conditions for the private sector to invest with confidence and deliver lasting impact in Asia and the Pacific. ADB seeks to address the challenge of aligning risk pricing, policy signals, and the conversion of strong ideas into investable projects. They are focused on mobilizing capital, technology, and expertise into emerging markets in Asia and the Pacific at a sufficient scale. ADB's new Advisory Group is guiding this transformation. ADB aims to accelerate resilient infrastructure and economic development in developing countries across Asia and the Pacific. They are partnering with organizations like the Qatar Fund for Development to cofinance and jointly initiate projects across the region, particularly in transport, urban development, and energy. This collaboration aims to unlock development finance for communities and support innovative sectors that are often underfunded. ADB's approach includes strengthening climate adaptation and water resource management, as well as disaster risk reduction, particularly in high-mountain regions. They mobilize global capital to support climate-resilient infrastructure and livelihoods, integrated water resource management, early warning systems, and disaster risk reduction through initiatives such as green bonds, focusing specifically on glacier melt awareness and related projects. This aims to address the threats to water security and livelihoods of the billions of people who rely on mountain rivers for drinking water, agriculture, and energy. ADB is committed to quality, sustainability, and value for money in its projects, as demonstrated by the implementation of merit point criteria (MPC) for evaluating internationally advertised contracts. The organization also focuses on protecting and restoring wetlands, emphasizing nature-based solutions with partner organizations and communities, especially regarding migratory bird routes like the East Asian–Australasian Flyway. They are one of the world's most significant routes, but it’s also one of the most at risk.
