EIC Accelerator

The EIC Fund operates as the venture arm of the European Innovation Council, aiming to bridge the funding gap for breakthrough technologies in Europe. As a strategic risk-taker, it provides investments to high-risk deep tech innovators, ranging from startups to mature scale-ups. The fund's primary goal is to crowd in private capital and support the development of future global leaders by providing minority equity stakes, typically around 10% but potentially reaching up to 25%. They provide follow-on funding to successful companies. The fund's investment strategy centers around game-changing innovators across all verticals and throughout the EU and Horizon Europe countries. It supports deep tech companies from early stages to scaling up, facilitating their growth and competitiveness on a global scale. The fund also creates thematic portfolios for strategic tech areas, further focusing investments and promoting synergies. The EIC Fund works closely with the European Commission, the EIB, and an external Fund Manager to ensure a streamlined process. The EIB acts as the investment advisor, and the European Commission through EISMEA selects companies, conducts due diligence, and manages the grant component of the EIC Accelerator and Business Acceleration Services. The external Fund Manager handles portfolio and investment decisions. The EIC Fund leverages a Trusted Investors Network consisting of over 110 trusted investors managing over €360B in assets, enhancing its capacity to attract co-investors. Through this collaborative framework, the EIC Fund strengthens the overall ecosystem for deep tech innovation in Europe, supporting the next generation of technology leaders and fostering economic growth.
